GRANDE PRAIRIE ¡ª Ten newly recruited physicians joined the North Zone of Â鶹ӳ» in the last three months of 2023, enhancing care for many northern communities.
These newly recruited physicians have diverse specialties (see below), helping to ensure the varied healthcare needs of northern Â鶹ӳ» residents continue to be met.

Newly recruited physicians (and their specialties) starting practising in the following communities between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023:

AHS continues to recruit for physicians across northern Â鶹ӳ» to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.
Â鶹ӳ» is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Â鶹ӳ». Our mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Â鶹ӳ»ns. Our current focus is on reducing emergency department wait-times, improving EMS response times, increasing access to surgeries, and improving patient flow.
