Registered Midwives are healthcare professionals who provide primary care during pregnancy, labour, birth, and 6-weeks after delivery (postpartum).

In Â鶹ӳ»­, Registered Midwives are:

• Registered with the College of Midwives of Â鶹ӳ»­, which grants them permits to practice.
• Covered by insurance through the Â鶹ӳ»­ Association of Midwives.
• Able to care for their clients within a number of AHS facilities across the province, as well as in private homes in the community
• Publicly funded since 2009.
