Inherited heart (also called cardiac) disorders are due to a change in a gene that can be passed on through our parents¡¯ genes. Some changes in genes impact how the heart is formed or functions. The effects of an inherited cardiac disease within families can be very serious. Identification of a gene mutation can help support effective treatment and management and also support genetic risk assessment and testing of close relatives.
