Pediatric Medical Outpatients - Unit 1D1
Provides care for children who do not require admission to hospital but need regular short or long term IV infusion therapy for various medical conditions.Provides treatment for a variety of conditions such as:
- blood disorders including various anemias, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), and hemophilia.
- rheumatic disease and conditions including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, uveitis, and juvenile dermatomyositis.
- bone disorders such as Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
- patients affected by inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, as well as chronic and acute liver disease.
- acute infections/exacerbations including asthma, Cystic Fibrosis (CF), cellulites, urinary tract infections and septicemia.
In addition care is provided for children:
- after a transplant for ongoing follow-up and treatments.
- before and after procedures during which they are sedated; as well as short stay surgical patients including bone marrow, kidney, and liver biopsies.
- short term IV antibiotic therappy
