Stony Plain, ¡°The Town with the Painted Past¡±, storied history leaps off the walls in a series of 36 vivid murals scattered throughout town, and supported by additional public artworks ¨C including statues of the town¡¯s first sheriff and two sculptures erected in front of town hall to commemorate the Stony Plain¡¯s centennial celebration.
Today, the community offers residents a great lifestyle, a strong sense of community, and big city attractions close by. Besides the murals, the community remembers its agricultural roots with Farmer¡¯s Days and the Cowboy Poetry and Country Music gathering held every August. Located in the aptly named Parkland County, Stony Plain residents have plenty of options to get outside. Lee Nature Sanctuary, or the Wagner Natural Area. A fan of golf? Explore over ten nearby golf courses, or camp at one of the seven readily accessible recreational parks and campgrounds. Take the family to a u-pick farm, go geocaching, saddle up a horse, or check out some ATV trails ¨C there¡¯s plenty to do and see.
The parks in town provide a great backdrop to activities like the summer concert series at Shikaoi Park, which offers up free concerts every Wednesday, the 25-kilometre trail system, playgrounds, and both a skate and BMX park. The TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre serves Stony Plain, the neighboring community of Spruce Grove - where it¡¯s located, and other residents of Parkland County. The Rec Centre holds an aquatic centre, hockey rinks, two indoor fields, a gym, and an indoor children¡¯s play centre.

The Westview Health Centre, operated by AHS, is a one-stop shop for a wide range of healthcare needs. This 68-bed facility includes a 24-hour emergency department, the community health clinic, diagnostic imaging, x-ray, and laboratory services. A number of community programs, including child health clinics, immunization services for all ages - including travel immunization, operate out of this facility.
