Protective Services Officer

Protective services officers are trusted to provide a safe and secure environment for everyone at an AHS facility.
They proactively mitigate loss or damage, de-escalate incidents of aggression, respond to emergencies, and ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Compensation
$33.42 to $38.27 per hour

Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Post secondary education in law enforcement or a related field would be an asset

Duties
- Provide a safe and secure environment for all staff, patients, and visitors
- Control access within and out of the health facilities and report or investigate irregularities
- Respond to security, fire, and personal safety related issues in accordance with current legislation and established site policies and procedures
- May occasionally intervene with aggressive or unpredictable behaviour
- Respond to emergencies appropriately

- Ensure the safety of all people and property at AHS facilities
- Prevent or proactively mitigate loss or damage to property
- Appropriately respond and lead others to safety in an emergency situation, run practice drills
- Maintain a safe and calm atmosphere for patients, families, volunteers, and staff
- Educate others through presentation of in-services specific to individual safety & security
Work Collaboratively
- Interact with a wide range of people including patients, families, and other visitors
- Work with other protective services, support staff, administration, and healthcare professionals
- Work at a variety of health and community facilities, including hospitals and clinics

Training Program
Protective services officers are required to complete the Âé¶¹Ó³» or (6 weeks program).
