Patients with multiple health conditions can suddenly go from stable to acute condition. During testing, cardiology technologists operate several recorders to observe the patient and notify the appropriate health-care professional if the patient¡¯s medical condition changes.

Using monitors, scanners, and analyzers, they make recordings as well as set up, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to keep it working properly.

Compensation

$31.13 - $46.69 per hour

Duties

  • Operate patient monitors/recorders, observe patient status, and notify health-care professionals of any changes in medical condition
  • Utilize analyzers, scanners, and monitors to perform recordings as well as set up, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment
  • Transport equipment and/or assist with patient transfers
  • Train new staff and educate other hospital staff regarding cardiology technology and procedures

Make a Difference

  • Accurately monitor patients¡¯ medical conditions and ensure timely medical assistance as needed
  • Notify appropriate health care professionals if patient status changes
  • Ensure lifesaving equipment is working properly
  • Educate other members of the health care team on equipment being used

  • Work primarily independently, but also with patients, physicians, technologists, and other staff
  • Work in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, laboratories, and clinics
