The 2024-27 Health Plan and 2024-25 Business Plan are public accountability documents that describe at a strategic level the actions Â鶹ӳ» (AHS) will take in fulfilling its legislated responsibilities as well as the financial resources to provide patient-focused, quality health services that are accessible, safe and sustainable for all Â鶹ӳ»ns.
The Ministry of Health is refocusing Â鶹ӳ»'s healthcare system with the goal of improving health outcomes for Â鶹ӳ»ns and empowering healthcare workers to deliver quality care across the province. As part of this refocus work, Â鶹ӳ» Health is creating four new agencies each focused on a specific area of functional importance: acute care, continuing care, primary care, and mental health and addiction. AHS will be a service provider for the acute care organization and oversee the delivery of hospital care, urgent care, cancer care, clinical operations, surgeries, and emergency medical services to all Â鶹ӳ»ns.
The documents outline three long-range goals and 10 objectives for AHS as the organization shifts from being the province's sole health authority to having a streamlined role as a service provider. AHS is committed to providing seamless care throughout this transition period. By focusing on innovative quality care, improving the healthcare experience, and supporting community-led prevention initiatives, AHS will improve health outcomes and consistency of care across the continuum.
